The Book, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Rio, Short Stories, the End of the ...

Larry and I managed to get through the rest of the book with Katrina last Thursday. We had to push through four hours of intense critique to get to the end but we made it. Now it?s our job to take those suggestions and either use them or toss them out. It?s going to be a massive task. There are entire sections of the story that need altered or deleted. Each of these will then require alterations in other chapters. The job is going to be daunting to say the least but at least I managed to get started this weekend. I made it through six chapters before I had to stop. Consultation with Larry about major changes in the plot line was necessary. We discussed those today and hell will take the ideas we developed and rewrite as many chapters as he can get to and finish by noon next Saturday. He will send those to me for review on Monday and then it will be my turn. We?ll try this routine and see how well it works out. Once we have edited the book, it will be my friend Tim?s turn to read and edit. As a result of this, we didn?t review a short story this past week. Victoria had a French Exam on Friday and needed Thursday to study so we used the time to work on the book. A story by Rinda Payne will be posted this Tuesday for those of you are following our blog.

The media had made a big deal about the end of the world happening in May. A pronouncement made by a religious leader of a small group in California. When it didn?t happen of course everyone had a field day and naturally this made said he had made a mistake and it was going to happen a few months from now. He mentioned a date but that?s not relevant to my comments. The first of which is, a wealthy woman gave a huge sum of money to the religious leader on the belief that the world would end. I wonder if she?s asking for a refund now? Secondly, it is my belief that if there was any person in the world who committed suicide as a result of this man?s idiocy, he should be held accountable for it. Regardless of the mental state of the people who believed his prophecies. Lastly, we all know the world is going to end on 12/21/12. The Maya said so!

I watched two movies this past weekend. The first was Kung Fu Panda 2, which I thought was fantastic. I loved the first one but I think the second was even better. I laughed most of the way through it. It was fast paced and had a great plot. It gets 4? Llamas on my scale. The second was Rio, another full length cartoon. Not as good as Panda 2 but worth seeing. It gets 3 Llamas on the scale. Worth renting but I?m sorry if you paid those expensive prices at the theater.

I started another short story today. I am going to make a concerted effort to end it before it turns into another novella. I?m thinking that it would be nice to finish something also. The other stories keep growing and growing, ideas pouring out of my head till I trap myself into a lengthy effort. I guess that?s a good thing in the end.
