Thomas Burke, principal of Burke Cos., the developer of the planned Texas Roadhouse in Colonie.
Texas Roadhouse plans to a open steakhouse at 105 Wolf Road in Colonie New York, on a parcel that currently houses a Chipotle Mexican Grill.
The property owners, Malta-based Burke Cos., plan a 7,079-square-foot restaurant on the property, located on the east side of Wolf Road, just north of Sand Creek Road.
Joe LaCivita, Colonie?s director of development and planning, said Burke Cos. will merge the two lots on the parcel to allow access to both Wolf and Sand Creek roads. Texas Roadhouse would be at the back corner of the property.
The town?s planning board reviewed a sketch of the plan at this week?s meeting, and response was favorable.
?I don?t think we?ll have any issue giving approval for this. We like it, and it?s their first time for this area,? LaCivita said.
He said the Louisville, Kentucky-based chain has been scouting for a location in Colonie for several years.
In 2008, the restaurant chain proposed a Texas Roadhouse at the Latham Circle Mall, but those plans never moved forward.
Texas Roadhouse operates at least 300 restaurants in 40 states. The nearest one to the Capital Region is in Kingston?about 56 miles south of Albany in Ulster County?according to the company?s website.
