With bombshell looks, a successful acting career that has her juggling stints on both the small and big screen, and a baby on the way, it might sound like January Jones has it all -- except for the secret to successfully dating in Hollywood.
Gracing the June cover of Allure magazine (on newsstands May 24), the Mad Men beauty talks about her January breakup with Saturday Night Live's Jason Sudeikis, citing their bicoastal relationship as one of the main causes for the split. "The long distance kind of petered us out," says Jones to Allure. "When you date someone else who's in the industry, someone has to make the sacrifices. And if no one's willing to, then you just have to be friends." She also jokes, however, that it's hard to imagine anyone who is not in "the industry" being understanding of her job's demands, especially when she has to tell them, "I'm sorry, I need to go away for three months and kiss other men while you stay here."
Not currently linked to anyone, Jones, who recently announced that she is expecting her first child in the fall (she is still keeping quiet on who the father is), also reveals who she has to thank for her sleek physique -- Mother Nature. She tells Allure, "I have never dieted. I just listen to whatever my body craves. I don't deny myself anything. I don't crave sweets or unhealthy things very often. But when I do, like if I'm in a bad mood and I'm in traffic, I'll stop at McDonald's and get a strawberry shake and fries and not feel guilty at all, because I deserve it." (This mentality fits right in on set at Mad Men, where the show's starlets are discouraged from dieting!)
A true natural beauty, Jones, who is set to star in this summer's X-Men: First Class, addressed her constant comparisons to Grace Kelly. She told the magazine that she certainly appreciates the compliment, but admits, "It's hard to think I have to live up to that, because I'm not her, unless Grace Kelly drank beer."
And what about those fabulous clothes? Jones is all for them as well, telling Allure, "The long-line bra with the pointy tips and the girdle, and then the stockings on the garter belt -- I really like the shape it gives me. It's kind of sad when you take the girdle off at the end of the day."
Now that's something you don't hear every day!
